UNCLE !
I take it all back and formally apologize for my misguided Grinder
depredations.
The Mazzer burrs have become Plurimodal in their grind distribution- they're
starting to make the Primordial Soup with fines and all different size
grounds- even though the burrs felt razor sharp the last time I removed them
for a GI partyclean up.
How so? I always clean out the particulate coffee and flush/ steam out the
Gunk Trap passageways above the pf basket and handle between shots in the
Capresso/ Depresso.
Each shot should brew with crystal clear hot water, without shading from
passage of the water through trapped grounds from hours' past shots. One
previous shot had a very pleasant spicy component, ditto that noon when
spring time in the rockies => DIA, a Category 4A field,.[Full instrument,
all weather T/O, landing] was closed.
Even with the packed coffee 4-5mm below rim level in the pf, it took 5 open
flushes and 4 more back flushes to clear the residual grounds out of the
depressing Capresso.
The garbage that blew out included all size grounds + coffee dust particles,
and pastel coffee tinted water. The tint didn't clear until the stray
grounds were mostly gone. I hate to cup for flavor when I know there's other
garbage adding to a brew.
Maybe most of the problem is that the burrs that were new when I got the
grinder in '05 are not as sharp as they feel. 100 # of coffee, max, and
maybe two pounds of wheat ground to flour.
Bucks for Burrs time in the Rockies, and maybe no more dual mode grinding-
coffee/ flour.
Cheers, Mabuhay -RayO, aka Opa!
