I guess that's what I get with a "reroast". Don't know if the monsooned
malabar in the blend makes it different. I'll be tasting the roast
tomorrow,
but it's bound to be better than a roast that's too light.

Yes, this is a light hearted experiment and R. Miguel was not actually
behind it, he has been to the farm and worked with the growers, but
this was
Lorie Obra's experiment that was provoked by Paradise Roasters. She is
continuing to experiment and sending me samples. Not sure what it will
mean
for coffee, but regardless it is interesting.

Your right. I have started fiddling with a tin can to make the air
flow adjustable.

correct - fast roast produces more divots, but air roasting will too,
since there is more outgassing during the roast process than drum
roast (i know that doesnt apply here, but just wanted to point that
out.) the second factor is the coffee. softer, lower grown will
fracture easier, and i think the monsooned malabar, because of the
unique processing, is soft and will divot easier. if a coffee is not
flash roasted or theres some other issue, divoted beans will cup on
par with non-divoted.

I checked temp in my NCA5 today using 40g of beans. Temp dropped a few
tenths more then when I added 24g to the NCA3, maybe 1/2?F. Once the
bloom
forms the temp rose approx 2?f as before so the bloom must block the
heat
loss. Temp held throughout the steep as before.
