Topic: How I survived (7 msgs / 210 lines)
1) From: Jim Gundlach
Respondents to my post have been so complementary of my skills that I
am afraid I need to correct all those complements of me. Let me say I
really do appreciate the view of my performance that all these
complements have made but the simple fact is my wife and daughter
deserve all the credit for saving my life. The truth is that I was
making absolutely no sense for about three weeks and I only know about
some of the things I have done because it makes interesting stories.
For example when my wife and daughter put me into the hospital I tried
to pack my chainsaw and take it to the hospital with me. My wife has
been director of the state domestic violence organization for the past
eighteen years and he time she spent lobbying and working on
domestic violence gave her a high degree of respect. Also, my
daughter is a relatively new attorney and works with one of the most
active state wide legal organizations. Without the extra skills they
both put out to get me correctly diagnosed and treated I have no doubt
that I would be dead by now. I appreciate the complements but there
are three weeks where I have absolutely no memory of what I did and
from what I have heard, I was behaving in a completely insane and
uninformed manner. My wife and daughter were able to fight through
three waves of inaccurate diagnosis by the medical profession and got
me very early treatment for a disease that is typically fatal, about
96% of the time because treatment is tool late.
I appreciate all those good assessments of my assumed behavior but my
wife and daughter saved my life because they have exceptional skills
in dealing with the health profession. There is no doubt that the
first three efforts to treat me by the medial profession would have
killed me and my wife and daughter were able to figure out that they
were wrong and did the extra work to get me into surgery quick enough
to let me live. While I just wanted to take my Skill chainsaw to the
hospital with me. I was quite smart in selecting my wife and I
benefited but she and my daughter deserve all the credit. My brain is
coming back but it is not all here yet.
Thanks,
      Pecan Jim

Really Good to have you back, Jim!
My wife also looks out for my best interests. Without her guidance,
I'm sure my cholesterol levels would no doubt be extraordinarily
higher these days. I thank God that she found me, all those years ago!
Take care!
Gary

Jim I am so glad you had advocates. In defence of the emergency room staff
however, the adage used is ; If you hear hoof beats don't look for Zebras.
Virtually anyone showing up at an ER with your symptoms would have sustained
a CVA, drug overdose or early dementia. You are right, without your
advocates, protocol dictates you rule all the above out before going on. You
are very lucky. Now your wife can indeed enjoy her well earned Mother's
Day.Even better you get to enjoy Fathers Day and hopefully many more.

Jim,
Please give all the thanks in the world to your wife and daughter for
me. Your survival experience sounds like an episode right out of the
series "House" only the team consists entirely of two with out House.
Your most loved ones in your life whose skills go far beyond the
routine diagnostic routine you were up against.
I'm sure if you had brought your chain saw and even just kept it bedside? <=

Hey, it is so nice to see a post from you Jim..

Jim as a matter of curiosity, what were the 3 incorrect diagnoses?
And congrats on a new lease on life!
