I've been using a V2480 for 3-4 years now with no gasket problems. From reading some of the online "complaints" its fairly obvious that a number of owners simply are not getting the bag in far enough for the machine to work properly. John B. |
There was a real problem, though, with the gaskets getting deformed the lid sitting heavy on them in storage. Picture a stuffed cupboard with things piled on top of the machine to get a sense of the problem. They sent out spacers and warnings not to keep the lid too tightly shut while in storage. On the new machine, there are built-in spacers, and a closing lever. The lid doesn't close on the gasket at all until the lever is engaged, and the machine is supposed to be stored with the lever disengaged. Makes perfect sense to me. They've been using that set up for awhile now(5 years??) as my machine has the same features. John B. |
Yeah, new is sort of relative, it would seem. The copyright on the box said 2007, with Sunbeam as the holder. I don't know when they introduced the built-in spacers and lever, but the gasket deformation is one of the primary sources of trouble in the online reviews.
