Topic: Twiter Mail (20 msgs / 340 lines)
1) From: Jim Gundlach
I keep getting the same message from Twiter Mail every time I post but
my messages make it to the list fine. Yours did too. I think there
must be a problem subscription to someone what left Twiter Mail.

I got the same TwitterMail error message from my post. I have never
had a Twitter account so I have no idea where the link is happening.

I've posted about this before. Don't know if it was when you were sick, Jim
- I also don't have a Twitter acct.
It's very strange, have no idea why I get these - still getting them
occasionally - just ignoring them now.

I got one of these today as well. First time, though.

Bob,Lynn, Jim, Wally,
I also got this message with my last reply to a list post yesterday.
This is not the first time for me. I have been ignoring it but it's becoming
tiresome.
Now I did have a twitter account at one time but canceled it some time ago.
Are there any software guys or gals on this list that can suggest something
for us?
Should we contact twitter and see if they have any thoughts on this?
Are there any others on our list here who are experiencing this?

There we go again another one of these twitter messages. I hope I'm not the
cause of all this twitter spam to the list, if I am let me apologize now.
My account with them does not exist but I will contact them about this.

JoeR,
I'm not a software guy (nor do I play one on TV), but I can suggest a
program called Mailwasher. I've been using it for a number of years and it
lets me control what gets into my inbox. After getting two of these twitter
emails today, I added a rule to Mailwasher to delete these emails from the
server before they ever get to my inbox. I shouldn't see any more of them
now.

If you can put up with it, it's a wonderful solution, possibly the
best, but I fear it takes more discipline than most people have,
unless they have a plug-in I can't use. I'm still using the last
commercial version of Eudora. Another wonderful tool is Mailbag
Assistant that will archive and rapidly search old email. I have all
my email going back 10 or 12 years archived and searchable,
occasionally useful when I want to lookup something on a list that
happened in the distant past. No need to try and hope someone else
archived it and still has it.

I just did it with G Mail. Go to the top and click on settings. Then click
on filters and follow the directions. If I can do it anyone can.

have gotten several messages like that when I post here. I am not now,
have never been, and have no plans to be a member of Twitter.
My mails take 12 hours to a day to show up on the list also.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that someone *else* joined the list
using their Twitter mail account.
Now whenever one of us posts a new message the list tries to send it
to that account, it fails, we get the fail message back.
I'm sure I'll get one for this post.
I think the only fix is for Derek or someone to slog through the
database to find and delete the offending entry. Since we're getting
the fail message this person can't be susbscribing via their Twitter
address anymore.
Problem is if there are other people working through Twitter - might
be hard to figure out who to kill and who to keep.

That is real easy then, send out a message from list admin that
Twittermail is causing problems and then kill all of them. After
locating all of the Twittermail subscribers send them a personal email
that they will have to resubscribe with a real email address and not a
throwaway.

Actually, from what I've read on the twittermail site, the twittermail
address provides a way for users to update their twitter feeds. You can't
actually read emails from twittermail.
There shouldn't be any reason I can think of for a twittermail address to be
on the mailing list roster.

The only reason I could think of is if somebody was trying to use it to turn
the list into a twitter feed.

I get the same response, but here's the odd part. I don't get them using
another Gmail account, just this one. I don't mind, though, I set the
preferences to delete 'em and no problem.
Technology. Huh.
