Does anyone know how or where to post photos to SM. I can find the 'member's
gallery.' Is it now all moved to the forum. Thanks.

How does one post a fast response? My posts take a day or more before they
appear if ever. They should not need to be moderated as I have been a
member of this list for years and I don't think I have posted anything that
would require me to be babysat. By the time my posts arrive, the subject
has changed and they are irrelevant. This has discouraged me from posting
anything. I assumed that the whole list was in some sort of flux, but some
posts seem to zip through. I added a Gmail account last fall and that
improved service for awhile, but it is back to very bad. I re-activated my
old account to see if different posts went to the two accounts, but so far,
I have just received double of all posts, though very few total. Is there
anything I can do?

Mike,
I use Lookout Express (er.. Outlook Express) and have both sent and received
timestamps visible. Usually, it's zero to a few minutes difference between
the two timestamps. Some peoples' posts, though, are delayed until a batch
is released; presumably by someone at SM's.
For example, your posts from 6/26 at 8:45am and 6/25 at 10:07 am were both
received 6/26 at 9:56 am. There were a total of 9 posts including yours
that all arrived 6/26 at 9:56 am. This phenomenon is particularly
noticeable with posts sent Friday evening through Monday morning. The
weekend's delayed posts typically arrive sometime around 9:00 am Monday,
again presumably when somebody at SM's releases them.
I have heard Derek explain the reasons for this before, but it seems that
there must be other triggers as well. My long-time email address suddenly
went to this behavior sometime back and Derek fixed it. I suggest you email
Derek to get your troubles fixed.
Of course we all know that SM's is in the coffee business and that list
administration isn't their core business. I think it must stimulate their
business though. I know it helps to keep me involved. A clogged list sure
inhibits conversations.
Bob
