OK the embargo of sending coffee to Hawaii wins. I put my house up for sale
yesterday. For good SM coffee I will leave Paradise and return to the
mainland. Actually, what really happened is my wife's job here dried up and
we want to live near our kids.

Portland is first choice. Reno and Vegas fell out of the race.Vegas is too
hot in the summer and Reno is drying up economically. Looking in Happy
Valley,West Lynn and Lake Oswego. All a bit premature. Our house can be on
the market for 6 mos yet. Hopefully, it will sell the first week. Anyone
interested I will throw in a lot of coffee equipment. I am planning one room
in the new house as a dedicated coffee/ library room. Mike if this works out
PNWG at my house next year.

Ah, I think you will find life among us mere mortals to have some
side benefits, that might compensate for all that "Aloha" spirit you
will be missing... welcome back!
By the way, when I spent my 1 year in New Orleans, I definitely felt
like I lived in another country!

Well, here in the "peanut patch" as I "affectionately" call Statesboro, GA
the weather service advisory tells us that heat index values will drop below
105 soon after sundown!
I'm so excited to be going to the mountains of western North Carolina on
Thursday to spend the holiday weekend in the cooler weather.
cheers,
Scott --> still drinks hot caffeinated beverages in this bloody weather!

Barry,
Good News!
Anything I can do to help out during the move etc., let me know.
You've certainly got a place to stay in the Gorge if and when it is
needed.

Since I despise the heat (what was I thinking when I lived in AZ for 2 1/2
yrs?!), I
don't envy you guys. However, here in MA it's been in the 60's, with rain,
rain and
more rain. My bones ache (heck, moving to a new apt last week may have
something
to do with that, of course)... I do worry about the fruits and veggies here,
though.
Last year it was the same - took some photos of some huge mushrooms that
took
root in the old neigborhood. Slugs love it, too...

(with a new gas stove for homeroasting - and an incredible view from the
kitchen, too!)

Oh man. Moving to Louisville from Honolulu six years ago -- first
time out of state in my life -- led me to discover truly enjoyable
coffee. Unfortunately, it also led me to think I'd have a
reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaally hard time moving back home. I think I'd go
nuts if I couldn't roast on a regular basis.

Barry,
I'll keep an ear open. I often drive through Happy Valley when working at
the Kaiser hospital in Clackamas and know lots of people who live in the
aforementioned areas. Lots of Hawaii transplants here.
Take care,
Ann
