Happy 4th,
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, there is a series about coffee airing on
the local PBS station, KQED. It looks really interesting....three one hour
episodes starting this coming Monday. My Tivo is all set and ready to
record them all!http://www.kqed.org/tv/programs/index.jsp?pgmid767Looking at the homepage for the series, I didn't see any info on other
airings, but maybe it'll come around to different channels and parts of the
country.http://www.blackcoffeemovie.com/home.htmlBZ

Hello,
I found this DVD set at my local library.  I found it to be very interest=
ing.  There was alot of information about the political aspects of coffee=
growing, trading and its impact on the people of the world.  It also c=
hanged my view on Starbucks.
I hope you enjoy it as well.

I did a search on the website of my local PBS station (Boston) and couldn't
find it listed.
So I did another search on the name, "The Irresistable Bean" - and found
this:http://www.blackcoffeemovie.com/thefilms.htmlArgh! I thought the films were available on the site at first. :-(
Apparently, this is the first part of a three part series...
I think someone mentioned this film in this list awhile ago - it's familiar
to me.
Heck, I don't know what why I was searching for it on my local station - I
don't even
have television access yet (just moved!) and don't know when I will have it.
Make sure you share your thoughts with us after, Brian. I'm so jealous (more
jealous
that you live in San Francisco, btw.. ha!)

Duh - just saw that your PBS station gave the link to this site.
I ran out of homeroast... and I need more coffee!

set off the smoke alarms)

Great series, I recorded all three when it aired here near Portland Oregon.
Can't wait to burn them onto CD's off of my DVR.
What a history series.

Reminder: The second episode airs tonight.
My Monday started badly, with a flat tire in a rental car, and getting back
into the routine of the workday week after a nice weekend camping. I'll
have to pay $50 for the flat, but since the car rental agency was next to a
thrift store, I was able to pick up a fireplace popcorn popper for $4 that
I'll clean up and take camping for popcorn and green coffee beans.
I'd like to figure out why the Guatemala DP Oriente tasted so good camping
and brought out the cedar flavor notes that I'm missing in my home prep. It
could just be that everything's better while camping, but the water and
grinder are also variables to consider.
Have a great week everyone.

Crazy thought - Were there cedar trees near where you were camping? Maybe
the smell from them enhanced the coffee aroma.
