Hi again,
Regarding my coffee mill that doesn't grind because of an encounter with a =
bean shaped rock:
I got a most surprising phone call from Baratza. It was not the call itself=
, but that they offered to send me a new machine! I was taken completely by=
surprise and yes, it did make my weekend! So I thought I'd let you know. =
Asa
Regarding how a rock can look like a coffee bean?! Well, that was probably =
a matter of the beans not being sufficiently roasted and that the beans wer=
e somewhat pale, drinkable, but not at all as I like them. We have come to =
terms at this point, the Behmor and I. I try to take care of it and it help=
s me get the coffee I like, but I still have a lot to learn. =

That's great news! Good to hear customer service stories that come out
well.
As for rocks: I have one that jammed my MDF a while back. I keep it as a
reminder to keep a close look-out for non-bean matter. It is the size,
shape and color of a roasted coffee bean. It's somewhat flat on one side
and convex on the other. The telltale is weight, of course, and no split on
the flat side. I missed it completely.
I recall that one of the listees found an earring in the beans one time.
Might be some interesting stories out there. Foreign material in SM's
coffees, though, is pretty rare IMHO.

Hi Asa,
You can ignore my other reply. You've just experienced what many of us here
have experienced, namely, the truly extraordinary customer service
experience you can expect from Baratza.
They're simply amazing, very old-fashioned (in a really great way), and I
wish that more of the world was like them.
Glad you're on your way back to happy grinding!
Doug
