I tried out the thrifted fireplace popcorn popper last night in camp.
Popcorn took forever, but tasted great. I'm sure it's much healthier
then Jiffy Pop that's now getting harder to find.
The Guat DP Oriente was a different story. The latch kept coming loose
(need to fashion something to hold it shut) and I spilled some beans
in the fire and also dropped the top half of the popper in the fire.
Real uneven roast for my first try. Mix of City/vienna.
I think I'll try the Yirg in the morning when I can see the beans roasting.
It was fun, but the Guat tastes a little green this morning... Needs more rest.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Roasted 10 oz of Yirg this morning over the fire with a carabiner
slipped over the handle and under the interlocking clip to prevent
opening.
This morning's roast went much better with a more even roast and it
was nice to see the beans change and the chaff fly. It was about a 10
min roast to City+
My arms are tired now, and I wish I brought some more greens, but I
have plenty of popcorn left. I think I'll let someone else have fun
popping the popcorn.
Everyone else is still asleep. Minus tide at Natural Bridges tide
pools was about 7:15 this morning, too early for teenagers, I guess.
Enjoy life this weekend.

I have one of those hanging in my house belonged to dear friend
who I lost 20 years ago. But that sounds like fun. Now, I have
never used it, for pop corn or coffee. Do you flip it over, or just
agitate it. Give me a little guidance. Experienced, in the roasting
department with a I roast that finally went and now a Hot Top
dream machine. But this would be fun for both camping.
