Topic: Is an Anfim Grinder Better Than an Electric Chainsaw? (2 msgs / 33 lines)
1) From: Bob Hazen
I have been the lucky benefactor of some odd horsetrading. My Dad's neighbor is closing down her coffee house. One day, I asked her if she had any grinders she wanted to unload. Yes, she said, come on over someday and have a look. This had all slipped my mind until tonight when departing from Dad's house, I discovered a grinder sitting by my car door. Turns out the neighbor wanted Dad's electric chainsaw and offered him the grinder in trade. So thanks to Dad's generosity, the neighbor got a chainsaw, Dad got more space in his garage and I got a grinder.
As far as I can see from surfing the web, my new grinder is an Anfim Best Chrome. It says ECM on it but there's no model designator. I understand Anfim has sold this grinder rebranded under a number of names of which ECM is one.
I'll be doing some testing this weekend and getting some new burrs on order. I don't know if they're worn out or not, but it seems replacement is the right thing to do. Espresso Parts is the only place I've found them so far.
I'd appreciate any thoughts, pointers or opinions about this grinder you folks may care to share. I'll be using it for drip and espresso. I'm thinking it'll be a step up from my 1980's MDF.
