Topic: Maui Moka! WARNING! (3 msgs / 74 lines)
1) From: Tom & Maria - Sweet Maria's Coffee
Yes, this is NOT a coffee for the Behmor ... or if you decide to try
it, you need to have the small grid drum, load the coffee, and shake
it around to allow any really small beans to exit ... otherwsie they
will make their escape in the roaster, and that could be hazardous. I
tried to make this clear in the review.
I DID perform a sieve test and Screen 14 held a good, 90% of the
coffee, Screen 12 held the rest. There is less than 100 Lbs of this
lot, the natural (dry processed). The washed version of the Moka is,
uh, bland, but we really like this natural.

My roasting equipment wouldn't have any trouble with the smallest of these
teeny Maui Moka coffee from Maui beans, since it is able to contain dry
yeast, salt, sugar, whole grain wheat flour, water, honey, EVOO, etc.
The Wagner HT-1000 heat gun is a semi-wimp, but I suppose it could blow some
tiny beans out of the pan if I tried to.
Was going to build an air bed roaster using my Kirby heat gun. (Kirby- or
smaller- vacuum blower with a Chromalox 5.5Kw finned Incaloy sheathed,
finned "U" heater element twisted in a spiral in a 4" insulated furnace flue
section.) The PID controller, SSR, 0.050" 304 s/s sheathed, grounded
junction, type K probe all on hand.
Then I found it would probably infringe on some patents if it worked. Back
to the bit bucket with that one.

You can also load the Behmor drum with the beans, put the chaff tray
in, hit cool and it should drop all the beans it is going to. Dump
(save) the chaff tray leavings, and then roast as normal.
