Topic: Where did the coffee go? (5 msgs / 99 lines)

Mike, I was glad to hear you found a buyer quickly.
And I want to thank everyone involved in a discussion that will certainly
lead to (1) users of the listserv being more appreciative of the work
involved to maintain it, and (2) the development of an improved listserv
that meets with the approval of a majority of the users.
I was 'on the fence' about the question of LISTSERV or FORUM. No longer -
the combined cr*p storm of worthless and off-topic (I usually enjoy the
stuff that is worthless and on-topic) opinions about pros and cons of 25+
year old hand held programmable calculators has pushed me to become a
staunch member of the FORUM BRIGADE.
As this is moderated by Sweet Maria's staff - I want to mention a new blend
(for me) that has met with broad favor among friends and family. This
includes folks who thrive on a tight Kenyan bean and a couple who prefer
some Indonesian beans in their blends. It is 60% Kenya Bonko and 40%
Columbian. The Bonko was roasted to CITY+ and the Columbian to FULL CITY.
I've served it hot with a press pot and cold with the Japanese cold-brew
method discussed earlier in the group. Results of both were very good.

And here I enjoyed the resurrection of the ancient history of the HP-35.
I suppose he would not have appreciated the Pecan Jim scientific study
of why the deer crap in the middle of the road either.
Definite forum material.

I'm here for the coffee, if not for that I'd have never arrived, but
I say for the camaraderie, the friendship and the occasional way off
topic topic that helps keeps it interesting. I like the surprise, I
like the lists I belong to that have about 20 messages a year
occurring in a couple of batches at random times. It keeps life
interesting without being overwhelming. All the HP talk makes me
wonder if there are any more BIX alumni here?

Too bad. It's off-topic things like that that let you really KNOW the
people you're communing with on this list. It puts their comments
about roasting in some sort of context.
Here, I'll tie it together:
Now all I need is an HP41C with a 82165A module for GPIOs and a
thermocouple probe, program it with PID algorithms, and I can use it
to control a coffee roaster :)
I wonder how hard it would be to build an IEEE-488 interface for my
roaster....
