I have one thing to say to that Peeping Thomasina who filed the
complaint: "if thine eye offend thee...." It's not like he was
behind the counter at Starbuck(naked)s.

OMG - he was in his HOME!!
I'd file charges against the woman for being a peeping tom.
Ridiculous - and to think taxpayers are paying for this... yep, with all the
murderers, child molesters, and the billions of dollars being stolen by big
execs out there - I'm glad their going after someone who was making an
espresso (supposedly) in the safety of his own home.
Absurdity at its finest...

I was expecting something along the lines of the chrome-finished tea
kettle on Ebay a number of years ago that clearly reflected the naked
form of its photographer. The best comment was something like "be
especially careful when you're selling something fluids will be consumed
from".
But, yes, if this guy really did get a year in prison it's pretty
outrageous, but I expect it's sensationalism.

One's attire brewing a pot of coffee is one's own business. Both the mother
and child should be charged within and to the fullest extent of the law.
Unless he was parading his dripper without a filter and perhaps waving his
brewmaster about trying to gain attention, let him be. Sheesh.

Kind of reminds me of a series Nor'West Coffee T-Shirts I'm just starting
working to having made: "Nekkid Esrpesso Shots, Oh My!" =
With line art picture of nekkid pf coned pull into 'blushing' demitasse...
This will be followed by one along the lines of "Coffee Is Culinary!" with a
chef hat donned demitasse carving a coffee bean...
And then there'll be Dry Processed vs Wet Processed with sunbathing coffee
bean in lounge chair, umbrella etc opposed by coffee bean in inner tube in
swimming pool...
Or In Search of the Elusive Godshot with halloed demitasse floating mid air,
breaking clouds with sun beams shining on it, coffee beans with arms
upraised below... =
Those are the ones I came up with earlier this week on a bags-o-greens
pick-up run... More will be forthcoming... Another likely working in Coffee
Is A Vitamin Not A Drug theme, don't have that one pictured in my mind yet.
They'll come to me when the time is right. Planning a series with the
original signed drawings framed and hung in my café(s). Maybe prints made
for sale too...
Hopefully the first one will be "post" production in time for my planned
"Morning After Wake Up Clark County" Roastery CoffeeHouse Grand Opening
Event NY Day with free espresso all day featuring my newly reformulated
Organic Delirium Espresso Blend and other beanie dignataries:-) More will be
revealed! I will also say I had allowded my Delirium Blend to become
somewhat diluted from my taste vision over the past year from listening to
too many other "professionals" (one in particular) and their tastse buds
instead of mine. I've taken it back and won't be swayed again. I know what I
know, and I know I don't know a lot, and will never know much, but I do have
a fair understanding of what is "good" to even great to dare I say world
class dynamic espresso and how to achieve it.

I have visited a few of the Coffee Pits operated by some of the
"professionals"... and their taste buds. The best I might say is that it is
unlikely their taste buds have any control of the results after they push
the button.

This reminds me of the story of the little, old lady who calls the
police about a man walking around naked in his apartment.
When they get there , they look out the window and can't see anyone
and asked her if, perhaps, she was mistaken..
She said, "Oh, no... if you get up on this footstool and stretch you
neck a bit while looking to the left, he's very plain to see. It's
disgusting to have to look at that all day!"

If you want something that is phenomenal to YOU, then make what is
phenomenal to YOU.
...and with luck, there will be those who also see it's beauty. If you
want something that stands out from the everyday, then listening to a
broad set of people won't get you there. Too many roastmasters spoils
the blend :)

I totally agree with these sentiments for a home roaster where the object is
to get what YOU like, but a commercial venture is a totally different thing.
Your "mass market blend" has to appeal to the mass market. If that aligns
with your personal tastes, great, but in this case it is more important to
satisfy the customer than yourself. This is not to say that you should sell
out and clone SB. There is a fine line in there somewhere where you make
something that is liked by the crowd and you.
I am reminded of the sommelier who has to serve white zinfandel to a
customer who wants it. He personally knows it is crap wine, but the
customer comes first so he holds his nose and serves it.
