Heh. I went to an electrical supply place the other day looking for
350W infrared lamps. They only had 250W ones.
Is it was for restaurant use?
not quite
growing marijuana?
Uhh. No. Brewing coffee.
*sigh*
In other news, Im going to try to build a beam heater for a vacpot.
Anyone else tried this? I figure it's about $15 in parts.
Unless you want to buy one for $429.00http://caffedbolla.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPathh&products_id$0-

Hi Allon,
Good luck with this. I think I wouldn't mind one of those halogen heaters,
but they are awfully pricey.
Two things come to mind.
1) They don't appear to allow surface mounting, so they look like they only
support the suspended vacpots, like the smaller-capacity Harios. That leaves
our beloved stovetop Yamas out of the picture.
2) The Harios only allow the use of cloth filters, which is "game over" for
me.
3) I don't know how fast the infrared lamps respond to control changes. The
halogens are lightning-quick, which makes them suitable for quick burner
temp changes.
However, for $15, it strikes me as definitely worth exploration (I should
add it's your $15 and your time for the exploring, so definitely worth it to
ME! :-))
At any rate, let us know how you get on!
