Topic: Luna Bee, path to roasting (26 lines)

I had stomach problems which eventually led to surgery. My doctor advised me
to stop drinking coffee (at the time I bought from Green Mountain). That
really seemed to be an over-reaction on the doc's part and I opted to cut
down my coffee consumption. It seemed reasonable that if I'm cutting down on
quantity I want to make sure I have the best coffee possible. The dominant
answer from those in-the-know and from the Internet was fresh roasted beans
and the only way to guarantee freshness was to roast the beans myself.
Fortunately I found Sweet Maria's and decided to buy some green beans from
them (they are also transplanted Buckeyes - I think). I started roasting
over the BBQ grill and when it worked it was incredible. But I sure tossed
out a lot of scorched beans. My wife, also a devout coffee fan, gave me a
Hot Top for a Christmas present. As some of you may remember, that machine
caught fire last May. Now I'm using a new Hot Top and a Behmor 1600 for
roasting. I seem to be getting a taste for stronger (higher coffee to water
ratio) and use a French Press or a Moka pot.
