I'll echo what John said about sharing roasting profiles. I have logged 100% of my roasts, but only beginning to do so starting eight months ago. Struggled before that. The beautiful thing about the Gene Cafe is you get out of it what you put into it.
If you experiment enough you truly learn to roast. You don't set and forget anything. Everything requires adjustment and everything is variable with the GC. That is one of the attributes attracting me to it.
I was thrilled to find out that Eddie Dove dusted off his Gene Cafe a few days ago since he had a temporary prob drum roasting. He got me started profiling and is very unselfish with his knowledge.
John Despres is a virtual fount of information re profiling with a GC. A real joy to communicate with. They have me to the point I feel confident could do anything with a roast and can tweak down to minute fractions of Full City, Full City+, etc.
Thank goodness for sites like Sweet Maria's Homeroast List Digest that we can stay in touch and help each other become better.
Just yell if you need roast tweaking help. Its all about having fun!
Thanks,
gene
