Topic: Interesting Vac Pot Collection (5 msgs / 90 lines)
1) From: Bob Hazen
I've been gradually getting bitten by the vac pot bug. In poking around the net, I came across the following site. Quite a collection! I had no idea there were so many models available in the past. The links to various filters and instruction sheets proved interesting as well.http://www.baharris.org/coffee/Collection.htmBob

That's a great site, Bob.
If you found this through a web search, try this URL for the whole Vacuum
Coffee Pots collection on this server including a listing of manufacturers
and more pictures as well as history and how to brew:http://www.baharris.org/coffee/Vintage/McKee_Dots.JPG-Chris">http://www.baharris.org/coffee/The McKee Polka Dot Vac Pot is a real hoot!http://www.baharris.org/coffee/Vintage/McKee_Dots.JPG-Chris

Bob,
Great site - after careful inspection I found that I have the "8-cup
"Manhattan" MMK-SST" from Corning/Pyrex. I do need to find a new gasket for
it tho.

I've seen replacement gaskets available only for narrow neck vacuum pots,
but not wide neck ones. for example here:http://www.orphanespresso.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPathG_119Yours looks like a wide neck, no?
I've heard of some using an automotive rubber renew on their gaskets, but
the smell of this can be noxious and I'm not sure I'd do this (someone
suggested this for the rubber on my La Peppina.

Chris,
Yes, mine is the wide neck. Love to find a replacement but I'm not ready to
try rubber renew yet!
