Just because I feel like jinxing myself, I will share my great success this
As I mentioned a while back, I was having difficulty getting good shots with
a few of the latest WorkShop Blends (e.g., Treble Response, Waw Bukan Main,
etc.). Then, I stopped pulling good shots on my lever machine. Very
frustrated. So I honed in more on my technique, and this past week, I am
pleased to say that my espressos/cappucinos are back on par. Yay!!!!
To top it off, I've got a jar of Treble Response and Sumatra that I roasted
about a week ago, and they taste great. These were experiment roasts since
I'm trying to get back in my groove. Even my wife noticed how good the
Sumatra is on this roast.
So I pulled a shot of each this AM, and wow! One happy camper here.
Treble Response roasted on 1/12 to about FC. Pulled a nice syrupy shot with
darkish crema. Very smooth yet bright, and a combination of flavors that I
couldn't really separate, but that I could tell were combining well. I'm
sad to say I only have about 2-3 more shots left of this batch. I hope I
can get a repeat.
Sumatra Lintong Dolok Sanggul roasted on 1/14 to about FC+. Wow! This is
the best roast of this bean in my 4 pounds that I've roasted already.
Today's drip with it was great, and the espresso was even better. A lot of
body and very smooth. Again, I couldn't break out flavors, but it was very
So I raise my demitasse to the collective group and salute to successful
roasts and successful brews! Cheers!
