Topic: Behmor - empty roast cycle for cleaning purposes (9 msgs / 124 lines)
1) From: Rohn Peterson
The Behmor's owner manual states to run an empty roast cycle every 5 roasts
to keep the roaster parts clean. I am a bit lax in doing it that often.
How religiously do people do this? Just curious. Rohn

Mine is probably getting close to 100 roast behind meeting the empty
roast requirement. I've never bothered to do it.

After every 5th roast I run an empty cleaning cycle. Been doing
that for a bit more than 2 years.

I run 2 empty roasts after every 4 roasts, one with the drum and one
without. I allow a 1 hour minimum cool down after the first cleaning
cycle. I clean the stainless steel chaff tray with a commercial deep
fryer cleaner.

Sometimes I'll slip to 6 roasts, but BehmorThing is good about
reminding me to do this (and the recommended SuperClean).

I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.

The purpose of the 5th cycle clean burn is to keep the interior walls
clean. This is a heat to the electronics issue. The smoke suppressor
stays squeaky clean all by itself.

I give mine a wipe down with simple green and an empty cleaning cycle
after every 4 coffee roasts.
