Topic: Ethiopia Gr3 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe (3 msgs / 65 lines)
1) From: Brian Kamnetz
I roasted the last of my Ethiopia Gr3 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe today.
I really like this coffee. I am near the bottom of my stash and will
order in the next couple weeks.
If any of the coffee currently offered is similar to Ethiopia Gr3 Dry
Process Yirga Cheffe, I'd like to stock up on it. There are currently
4 varieties available from this region, three of which are dry
processed. I read the descriptions, and they all sound like Ethiopia
Gr3 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe. Here is the link:http://www.sweetmarias.com/coffee.africa.ethiopia.phpI was wondering whether anyone who really liked Ethiopia Gr3 Dry
Process Yirga Cheffe has tried the four Ethiopians currently offered
and would be willing to offer an opinion on how similar any of them
actually are to Ethiopia Gr3 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe.
Thanks!
Brian

I see no one has replied yet to your post, this is one of my favorite
coffees as well. I am not sure what is the most similar. I have tried the maduro,
and that is not the same,(at least the way I roasted it) I have some
oromia, but haven't roasted yet. I'll roast some this weekend and let you know if
it is similar , the Shoye Union and Koke coop actually look promising, but
they will have to go on my next order. So much coffee so little time... Maybe
someone else has tried those, I would be interested as well since I only
have 2 1/2 lbs of Gr3 DP Yirg left.

Thanks for your response.
I erred in my post; two of the available coffees are wet-processed and
two are dry-processed. The dry-processed are the Maduro and the Sidamo
Shoye Union. The Maduro flavor profile is quite close to the Gr 3 Dry
Process Yirga Cheffe, so it's disappointing to hear that they are not
more similar. But the Shoye Union is also similar, so there is still
hope there.
I look forward to hearing what you find out about the Oromia.
