Topic: Cleaning the Clever Coffee Dripper (4 msgs / 71 lines)
1) From: Gary Raabe
Hello all;
Has anyone attempted disassembly of the CCD for cleaning?
Looks to me like one could remove the center stopper and that would release the bottom plate and center stopper post and allow it to be removed from the bottom.
I would like to do this to clean the top side of the bottom plate and the rubber seal and coffee flow path.
Thanks,
Gary

And then the upper gasket should be easy to remove. Yeah, I've had the
same thought since shortly after I got my first CCD. Hesitate to mess
with it when it's still working and, as far as I can see, the only
replacement parts available are a whole new CCD (not that I don't have
one).

At least one of us will be extremely interested in how that goes for
you.  :-)

I did it, used a butter knife to pry slowly around the edges. It was rather difficult to do and I did crack the plastic a bit but after putting it back together I don't have any leaks. I feel that cleaning the base of the CCD is definitely the weak point of the device.
Love the cup though, I visited my wife at her work today and brought CCD and the Armin Trosser to brew a Mother's day cup of Sulawesi Toraco Flat bean.

I've found that an occasional soak in an OxyClean solution does a good job
of cleaning the CCD. I just rinse well afterwards. I've also been known to
run it through the dishwasher on the top rack.
