Subject: What possessesd me
I am getting ready to move. I have packed up my Cimballi Max Hybrid and am
just using my Mazzer mini for both brewed and spro. Just pulled my self a
shot. I dutifully brushed and vaccued the Mini out. Put in my beans and
ground. After I ground the beans I realized i had forgotten to adjust the
setting of the grinder from this morning and had ground the beans at the
setting I use for my vac pot. I thought what the hell how bad could it be?
The beans I used are great and if I take extra care tamping , settling and
evening out the grinds I can probably get away with it. The shot pre infused
for about 4 sec. I was now hopeful. It pulled a little quickly with some
side spray. Not as much as figured might happen but then again I did take
extra caution in tamping. now on to taste. I have had worse in some
commercial establishments. But never in my own home. Into the sink it went
as it should have had I not been as lazy as I was a few minutes before
actually pulling the shot.What possessed me --Laziness at he expense of good
coffee. Never again so help me SM.

Been there, done that.
Whole beans are too large to brew with any common method. The size
discrepancy can be corrected by spinning some conical burrs and forcing the
coffee beans and particles to pass between the ever-narrowing spacing of
cutting teeth arranged in a cone shape.
It's what grinders do.
There was no PC conference to decide if it was proper to regrind some coffee
particles to a smaller size.
It's what happens every step of the way as the coffee is ground normally.

Edgar A. Guest said:
"Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
    But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn’t," but he would be one
    Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
    On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
    That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you’ll never do that;
    At least no one has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
    And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
    Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
    That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
    There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
    The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle it in with a bit of a grin,
    Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
    That "couldn’t be done," and you’ll do it. "
