Question here. Do people see their own posts? Ever since (a year ago?) that the mailing list was migrated, I've not seen a single of my own posts. Which is why I have hardly posted. I didn't think they were getting through. I've confirmed they are not spammed. It's like the mail list system isn't sending out the message back to the originator. Anyone else? I just saw this post. When I post I just reply to the list, change the heading and delete everything in the body. Your post came through just fine, John. As I recall, there's a setting on the setup page for the list that allows you to copy yourself or not. It's been a while, so I couldn't tell you how to do it. But if you poke around you should see it. That is, unless I'm having a synaptic misfire. Bob |
OK, I found the toggle to receive my own message and it was set that I should be, but I toggled a couple others. We'll see (or more like I will) if that has any effect. Right now, I'm hitting 100% that I don't get of my own, although Derek showed me they are being delivered. I wish I could figure out what setting that is off that is causing this. I have seen that for years--i finally subscribed twice. The account that sent the message >NEVER< gets it back, even when the other one does. No settings or other things that I can & did change have helped. It should be working, but not. It is rare that a message gets dropped--that was happening about 2 years ago. About 80% of my messages never got thru. Somebody thought this is caused by Gmail being too smart to send you back your own posts, or an interaction between Gmail and the listserv software/site. Unfortunately my ISP switched to using GMail instead of self-hosting email about 2 years ago, so alternatives are limited. If you ever get it to work, could you post the solution? hth Dean Winter is finally here in da weeds. G-mail very likely treats the return of your original post as a bounce and cans it. Many ISPs trash bounces at the pop server, quietly. A little more detail on this can be found here:http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=2d5dbc1f28270634&hl=enBasically, GMail is following the RFC5322 standard literally and treating the reply from a mailing list that has the same Message-ID as the item in it's sent folder as a duplicate and not showing it. If the mailing list changes the Message-ID when it is sent out, then you'd be able to see the copy being sent and verify that your message went out to the list. If not, all you'll see is the copy that you sent, which in some cases is added to the message thread, without knowing if it was actually sent out to the list or not. From RFC5322: The "Message-ID:" field provides a unique message identifier that refers to <Snip> and Note: There are many instances when messages are "changed", but those <Snip> This is frustrating, and I've considered the suggestion of subscribing from a second email address to see that my messages made it out, but so far it seems like most of my messages have made it through. -Chris Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast_lists.sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20 |

Well, I do need to take a nap and a good read might help me to sleep better. I have been roasting almost non-stop since yesterday. I have been using my Behmor and really liking it a lot. Roasted 12 + pounds in about 8 hours and have been able to duplicate roast after roast. Plus I have been really enjoying Espresso Workshop #11. It is a very tasty espresso. The crema from it is some of the best tasting crema and it has aged nicely right at 10 days and all I'm saying is that it is in my cup, a lot. Well, off to roast some more, but Merry Christmas Eve to all and to all a great cup of coffee!
