Topic: cory gasket problem (8 msgs / 174 lines)
1) From: sci
Since there are a lot of vacuum pot users on this list, I thought I would
try my luck with a problem. Does anybody know where Cory rubber seals can be
found? I have a perfect Cory DRX vacuum pot with the glass rod. However, the
rubber gasket is so old and hard it won't seal. I have conditioned it with
silicon, soaked it in hot water, etc etc. It really just needs a new seal.
But I don't know if they can be found. It is about 3 inches in diameter.
Anybody ever tried to improvise a seal?

They have it! Great. I will order one shortly (despite that it is pretty
expensive, but where else are you going to get one)
Thanks a million!

Expensive, but likely better than the original. The advantage of
silicon rubber is it lasts essentially forever, but it's probably a
bit more fragile than the original.

I know it's expensive, but I solved all of my vacuum pot problems by getting
the Cona. Now I have a perfect pot of coffee every morning and no parts to
wear out. The only hitch is to keep from breaking the glass! For me, this
has been the ultimate coffee pot.

This will probably tip me from replacing the Cory with a Yama to
replacing the gasket.
Thanks!

I ordered a Cory D gasket. It is supposed to be silicon, which means it will
last indefinitely. It isn't here yet, expecting any day, but if you want to
wait I will let you know how it fits and works. It is a shame to me to have
to throw away a perfectly good Cory pot, with glass rod and all, just
because of an old hardened gasket. Kudos to the folks who decided to make
these modern updated replacements.
