Topic: Degree of roast question (4 msgs / 83 lines)
1) From: Dennis Guyer
I roasted 8 oz. of Panama Carmen Estate yesterday using 1/2 lb. P2 "C" yesterday in the Behmor. I let 2nd get away from me and went 15-20 sec's before I could stop the roast. Today I have a few spots of oil, but not much. Does anyone have a guess on what level I reached. I was not trying to go more than Full City +.
Thanks,
Dennis G

Sounds like you reached an area somewhere between fc+ and a light Vienna level. Sweet Marias site has some color charts to give you an idea what level you hit. I'd post the link, but I don't have time to look for it right now.

Sounds like Vienna roast, pretty much. It takes time for the oils to
come out, but I bet it's getting more oil on the surface now.http://www.sweetmarias.com/roasting-VisualGuideV2.php<Snip>

Dennis:
Vienna would be my guess if I had not seen the bean and am simply "looking"
at what you say.
You will most likely will get more oil which I think will be telling for the
roast level.
I would hve some now and stick some in a jar for about 7 to 10 days from
now.
