Topic: Kopi Luwak Coffee from Dean & DeLuca (5 msgs / 72 lines)
1) From: Zara Haimo
Now a fancy New York gourmet food shop has jumped on the Kopi bandwagon.
Dean & DeLuca claims that "Wild Thai Civet Coffee is the rarest, most unique
and
coveted coffee in the world". They go on to tout its exceptional taste and
aroma. $55 for 50 grams would make about 3 cups worth - amazing that anyone
would pay that for any kind of stale, pre-roasted coffee. And, by the way,
they claim it's organic, but so is compost.

Don't they know something is either unique or not unique, and there are
no degrees of uniqueness. Blechhh. Only thing worse than bad coffee is
bad grammar - especially in advertising. My old English professor's
favorite advertising malaprop was "Winston tastes good, like a
cigarette should." (He liked Camels anyway as in "I'd walk a mile for a
Camel). But I digress. -Bob G.

This is really a shame... when some larger company does this they
give credence to the whole thing.
