Happy Holidays!
And to all a fantastic New Year!
NC weather has cooperated and I've roasted up a storm on the deck. Christmas presents secured!

Happy Holidays. Time to vote on your favorite bean of the year. For me
hands down it had to be the Bali Natural Monsooned. Close behind was
Sumatra GR1 Mandheling. I wound up with about 25 pounds of the Sumatra but
only 7 lbs of the Bali. I am sitting now eating Potato Latkis and drinking
the Bali . Not a bad combination. What will SM bring us this year? Happy
New Year all

I really enjoyed the Nicaragua Mozonte Un Regalo de Dios...
Completely enjoyable every time I roasted or brewed no matter how long
(or not) it had rested.
And it sounds like a farmer who cares about his community as much as his cr=
op.
Win win.
I'm sad it is gone from the store and from my inventory. :(

For brewed coffee, two beans stood out for me this year. The Rwanda
FT Dukunde Kawa Musasa from late April, when drum roasted to a
leisurely City+ (around 4 minutes from start of 1st to end of roast)
and allowed to rest 3-4 days, was sublime. The Honduras Santa Barbara
Smallholders, roasted in a similar fashion, also produced an amazing
cup. Both beans had considerable sweetness, nice body and intensity,
and a long tasty finish. In addition, the Rwanda had some wonderful
floral notes.
Both were unexpected surprises for me. I have a love/hate
relationship with Rwanda coffees, having had some bad potato defects
in the cup in the past, but this lot was excellent. The Honduras was
a pooled lot that I took a chance on and was very glad I did.

For me the Guatemala Bourbon - Finca San Diego Buena Vista (brew & S/O
espresso) & the Kenya Nyeri Tegu AB (brew) were my two favorites & I'm well
stocked up on both.

The Guat Bourbon was an excellent coffee as well . A distant third to the
Bali and the Sumatra. It was my change up coffee from the other 2. I made
it through most of 2011 with those 3 coffees.

Depends on how you feel about Sumatra I guess! My rating system is
definitely quite a bit different then yours but to each his own.

I didn't mean to knock your rating system. I was agreeing with you. The
Guat Bourbon was definitely an outstanding coffee this year
