Topic: "The List" a revival? (5 msgs / 122 lines)
1) From: Edward Bourgeois
To my dear list brothers and sisters,
I still love this list. I believe it is just as needed as it ever was.
We've learned a lot but think of how much we still don't know. Or even how
much there still is having to do with roasting that nobody really knows.
There's a good amount more wisdom now too. Many more with highly capable
roasters. All that could advance interesting discussions.
The beans on this list have been high mountain hard beans that can stand a
little extra heat. Not being right out in the open like a normal forum we
could turn off the smoke alarms and just keep a fire extinguisher
available. This challenged us to really think and contribute and produced
some great results in the cup
It would be cool to attract a few shrub roasters too.

Same here, Dennis! This is where my obsession hatched. I'm delighted to
see some old familiar people posting here.

I could not agree more. I too love this list. It was the first list I ever
started when I started roasting
back in 1999/2000, I cannot remember for sure.
It was the first contact I had with other roasters. I bought my first Hot
Top from Sweet Maria.
I met Maria and Tom at the Northwest Gathering in Oregon...
This list was one busy list. I think with the increase and growth of the
home roasting
community many more forums have popped up and it is hard to keep track of
them all...
as an owner and administrator homeroaster.org I find I do not have the time
to
spend on too many other lists. I try and this is one of the places I look
at daily.
not much happening so I do not post as a rule...
I will try to start and add to other threads here to see if we can build it
up...
funny this was the first and only coffee list I was suspended from, my bad
temper got me in trouble.
but Maria and Tom were very gracious as always.

Love this list. Sometimes I even comment... I've been a list member for a
number of years and have learned much.
