Topic: Mokha Raimi: Don't Cull! (2 msgs / 41 lines)
1) From: Paul Jolly
As another big fan of this coffee (my favorite of
all the Yemeni beans), I'd say don't cull out any
odd beans---they add character, as Charles notes.
Of course, you could try it and see how you like
it; making a totally custom cup is part of the
benefit of roasting your own. I once sorted out
all the peaberries from a pound of Sumatran just
to see if they tasted different/better. They
didn't (to my cretin tastebuds) but it was a fun
fine-motor-skills sorting activity to do with my
3-year-old daughter. Also a vocabulary builder:
she now can spot a peaberry at three feet!
Good luck either way,
Paul

As more of a Harar fan, than a Yemen fan, I've eaten the lighter beans
that one might throw out, and, amazingly, they release the infamous
blueberry "flavor" as it were, right into your mouth. Is it the same
with the Yemen??
