I received 42 lbs of Nicaraguan (from a grower near Las Vegas, =
Nicaragua) from a physician friend who just returned from a missions =
trip. This is definitely not the same quality that we get from Sweet =
Maria's. It has not been screened, so it greatly varies in size. I =
think about half of it is too small in size to roast in the Alpenrost =
drum, so I'll have to do that in the Hearthware.
Makes one appreciate the EXCELLENT beans we get from Sweet Maria's!

More like Corn Nuts.

Todd...how big are the holes in the Alpenrost drum? I'm building a roaster,
and have figured that a 3/16" perforation size is what I want. I'm just
curious if that's close to the size of the Alp.

Why have perforations at all? Not a rhetorical question... I'm thinking of
building a drum, too, and so far I can't see the point.

So when you use wood, the flavors come through? "I find Oak a little
overpowering for Peru Organic Chanchamayo La Florida but works fine for
Columbian Excelso, next time I'll try a little Apple wood"
