Topic: 'Unoffically' SM5k wins multiple 10 shot speed test over Miss Silvia (39 lines)

Ok, I said no more SM5k posts 'till after Saturday so this doesn't count. In
fact, you're not reading this!
I make a beverage two to three times a week which I've been making with Miss
Silvia since I got her. Prior to that was using strong brewed eVac. It's a
64oz (yes, 1/2 gallon) batch of White Chocolate Kona Mocha. It splits
perfectly into three Sobe' bottles for a cold 'road' beverage.
My MS method was 5 double basket 5oz 25sec pulls.(my double strength Cafe'
Crema). It was time to make another batch so decided to use the Solis. I
cleaned out the hopper, put in the Vienna roast Kona, set the volume for
about 2 1/2, small cup under for the dump shot, hit 1cup (dose, brew) and
adjusted the grind to 6 to prepare for the 10 shots needed to equal MS 5
doubles. Dumped the clear shot, into my mouth, interesting 'monkey' of
Vienna roast Kona & ?, I don't honestly remember what I'd had in it to brew
just an hour earlier! Put a 16oz pyrex under and started the 10 shot run.
The time it took to pull 11 shots, clear shot plus 10 needed, was about the
same length of the time it takes me to individually grind, tamp, pull, pour
in pitcher, clean and dry portafilter and 5oz SS catch pitcher and do it all
again 4 more times. Got it down to a 'T'. The next shot is grinding while
the current shot is pulling, you get the idea. I didn't stop watch 'em
though. Approxiamately the same length of time. However, the resulting
beverages taste virtually identical. Let's see, push a button 11 times or
'high speed Barista ballet' with Miss Silvia and Maestro non-stop for 10
minutes? Thumbs up to Solis Master 5000 for this Real World application of
mine!
After that last statement, I really just hope the Rancilio Family isn't too
well 'connected' if you know what I mean. Missy is spitting daggers!
MM;-)
