I just got off the phone with Kyra. I had questions about the statement
"limited warranty." She indicated she meant that they won't be 'cross
shipping' units if there's a problem like people may be used to. They'll
supply parts and tech support no problem. Sounds fine to me. Also, a number
of the messages bounced back to them. I told her it was because she sent the
info' as an attachment. She ask me to send it out normal email so cut &
paste at the end of message. See below.

beautiful, new roaster almost filled our booth for the first day of the
show. Kyle flew to Taiwan earlier this week to meet with the owners and
learn more about the company. He was also interested in talking to them
about an active solution for cooling the beans after they are released from
the roaster. He came away with good feeling about the company and they were
very receptive to working on a change. They hope to have a new design
completed in the next few weeks. We hope the improved roaster will be
available in September or October.

limited offer for those not willing to wait. See the attachment for the
proposal.

or e-mail me ASAP. We will be placing the order the end of the week.

HotTop
Initial evaluations of the HotTop have been very good. However, they have
been limited. The cooling of the beans after they are released onto the
cooling tray has been a topic of concern. HotTop and Kyle are working on a
solution for active cooling. However, we do not think that solution will be
available until September or October.
Many people have requested to be a part of our evaluation or have asked to
purchase one of the first HotTop's available. For you early adopters we are
making the following proposal:
Proposal:
a.. Purchase the HotTop from Baratza direct for $350.
      b.. A non-refundable fifty-dollar deposit is required.
c.. This HotTop comes with a limited warranty of parts.
d.. Phone and e-mail tech support will be available on the equipment.
e.. Baratza is not offering roasting advice.
f.. If possible, we will offer an upgrade for the cooling solution.
g.. We are limiting this offer to 100 units.
Who: The offer is for first adopter; people that
love being the first with new stuff and are willing to work through the
initial bugs of a new product. We also want these early adopters to have
some amount of mechanical ability and are experienced roasters. We are
unable to help you learn to roast and we do not sell green beans.
When: The HotTop Roasters will be ordered from the
factory in Taiwan the end of this week. We will probably get them in
Bellevue in June.
Price: We are currently quoting $470 as the list
price for the HotTop. After this initial offer the roaster will be sold
through our wholesale customers.
