Just finished my morning coffee.
An Americano, made from Moka Kadir that I roasted 2 days ago... great!
If you haven't tried this blend, do so, post haste...

Moka Kadir is by far my fave espresso blend. Done right, it just REEKS of fruit aroma, and tastes like it, too. Neat stuff. Never tried it as a vac pot coffee, tho. Have to do that.

And how should it be "done right?" I love it, but find it fairly
touchy to roast as espresso in my HWP. I usually do it about 15
seconds into second crack, but with a 15 second cooldown added after
first crack has ended. I'd love to hear other experiences.

i roast it similiar to the way you do just into second crack. however i have
tried it rolling second crack with no signs of second crack slowing down.

I usually take it just to 2nd crack with my FR, but always have to wait at
least 2, preferably three days. If I rush it, the flavor is quite lacking.

I just finished consuming my first batch of Tom's Mocha Kadir blend. It is
a very good blend!! It has floral tastes that would make me think that
there was more than coffee in there! We zipped through the batch so fast!
I enjoyed it as Americano, espresso, vac brewed and of course my wife had to
have her cappuccino! However, with the heat yesterday we had some iced
shots with some milk (almost out of goat milk; I have not been keeping in
good touch with my supplier!) WOW! did the chocolate flavors come out!
Hard to believe it was just shots, milk and ice (stirred and not shaken!!).
We just had our county fair, and I talked to the guy at the vacuum sealer
place and found out what was wrong with my vacuum sealer. I may have to get
it out before the big sale in the fall! Like I need anymore beans!
Anyone else out there have any comments on the Mocha Kadir? I will be
having the famous CR LaMineta this week! I still have not discovered the
thrill about this coffee, and I am sure I have found the sweetspot. Well,
we all have our favorites!

P.S. I am going to have to dig the wok out and give it a try too! However,
I think I will wait for it to cool down a bit!

The Moka Kadir is one of my favorite blends. I've been having a bit of trouble getting what I want of of the last batch of greens, however. The trick is to not roast it to dark or the floral notes go away. Roasted just right, I would get the most amazing plum jam smell out of it and the chocolatey sweetness of the shot would just be incredible.
I try to roast it relatively slowly (it roasts very unevenly if you roast it fast) and it needs to only get a few snaps of second crack, although your tastes may vary. No more than 30 seconds of second crack worked best, if I recall.
