I just got off the phone with Kyra Kennedy at Baratza. My Hottop is going
on the truck as we speak!! She was so cool - never mentioned the amount
with my beloved sitting right next to the speaker phone - now I have a whole
week to figure out how to break the bad news to her :O)
John - getting ready for another Big Brown watch

Scott,
you bet you can. I'll give you a shot at running it too, but you hav=
e
to promise to hang around when I break the cost to Carolyn - she wouldn't
kill me with a witness :O)
John - 7 days and counting!!

3) From: John - Deep Southern Texas
Thanks Mark - will you send me flowers in the hospital when Carolyn finds
out what I paid for this silly thing? The first 20 units are going out a=
t a
lower than market price to get some quick feedback. I think it would be
unfair to Tom to list a price because he will certainly be carrying them.=
  I
can tell you this - if you buy it from Tom you will be getting it at the
lowest price on the planet - I paid less for all of my equipment and orde=
red
it all from Tom. Suffice it to say that I bellieve its overpriced compar=
ed
to the new Alp. I'll probably roast my over-priced Isle of Saint Helena
beans in it first :O)
John - trying to remember where I put my ski mask

Rick,
Baratza, the importer, brough 20 of the new units in early for some
evaluations - Kyra says that these units are current mechanically but th=
at
there may be some programming changes yet to come (EPROM swap) as the
engineering crew continues to tweak the process. Baratza has a container
load coming into the US in late September and these will be placed via th=
eir
distribution chain (ie. Sweetmaria's). That really is all of the story
that I know. I was left with the feeling that the final price was not yet
firm.

Ok Now I'm jealous. Mine won't arrive until the 30th - one of the joys o=
f
living in the tip of Texas. You'll be an old hand at yours before I even
see mine - so you've got to post your discoveries so I don't have to repe=
at
them.

Congratulations!!! Are you sending out samples to the list members?
:>)
Being new here, I'm probably re-hashing old news, but has there ever
been any approximate pricing for the Hottop mentioned?
Thanks,
Mark C.

Is that the new Hottop with the improved cooling, John? I heard a rumor
that there was a pre-order going on, at $417.50 for delivery in November.
Have those machines been pulled forward, or is yours one of the originals?

If yours is due in San Diego on Friday, mine should get here (Santa
Ana) the same day. I've been waiting for an e-mail with a tracking
number since the first post in this thread yesterday. I'm sure Baratza
is busy enough with out a bunch of calls asking when.
