Topic: Ethiopian Harar (but not coffee) (2 msgs / 44 lines)
1) From: Ryuji Suzuki -- JF7WEX
The most popular Ethiopian beers are made by Harar Brewery in the
place obvious from its name. One of them is Hakim Stout which is rich,
full bodied stout with a bit of berry and chocolaty flavor. The label
said there's an importer in CA, but the Ethiopian waitress told me
that they had hard time with the importer and they had to buy directly
from Harar. So here's the question:
Does anyone know where you can buy a case or two of this beer in the
U.S.?
(There's plain "Harar Beer" which is a lager. Neither of these is
outstanding as beer, but I liked their distinct flavor and strong
resemblance of their coffee character...)

From about half a dozen sources, all I have come up with is that it is not
available in the USA to the general public. It can be found in a few
restaurants but that appears to be it. Sorry. If I am wrong and you find
it, let me know, it sounds great from the reviews I read.
I realize it is not what you asked for at all, but Red Hook has a stout
that has stunning coffee flavor. Just FYI.
