Hi Ray,
I have two mods. 
First, I use a variac to control the voltage so I can slow down or speed up the 
roast in various places.
Second, I've extended the roast chamber by 1 3/4 inches. This stops the 
beans from jamming the top of the roaster in the plus model. If you aren't 
getting this, the mod is unnecessary. 
If you are, you may want to use the mod.  Catherine Marley's version is the 
easiest I've heard of. She uses a Cambell's soup can cut to size. The thing 
apparently exactly fits on the outside of the roaster and inside of the lid 
sleeve. You need to cut out a notch for the handle. I use a jury rigged piece of 
flue duct, while the most polished version was made from a pipe join sleeve.
