In Latin (Greek & some other languages) objects have gender (for tracking
the other parts of the sentence). A Boat happens to be feminine - maybe its
because guys have to work day and night to keep her afloat. I've never
understood who determined the gender of objects way back then. Most devices
of transport are feminine (car, cart, etc).
Well this should cause a significant divergence from the thermal dynamics
thread :O)
