Topic: slowing down the FR+ (18 lines)
1) From: C. Marley
Someone suggested a window to profile the roast in the FR+. What I have
been doing lately with the FR+ is: using a full height soup can, after
the first pop of 1st crack, remove the top of the clamshell. This takes
away a lot of air flow resistance. Of course you have to do this
outside, because the chaff comes shooting out the top. I find that the
duration of first crack is prolonged, and it takes about twice as long
to get to 2nd crack. You can roast a larger amount of coffee in the FR
this way, because the air flow is free to agitate the beans more
efficiently.
