SHIPPING NEWS
If you want to get the bottom line on shipping, have an idea of the size =
and weight of the package, Your zip code, and Tom's zip code.
Then go to the UPS web site, http://www.ups.com/ and the FEDEX web =
site,http://www.fedex.com/us/ hit the rates button, fill in the =
info, and get your rates. Don't forget about FEDEX Ground (the farther, =
the slower with this one). According to my FEDEX guy, the biggest =
secret, most underused service is the FEDEX Express saver.
Although they claim 3 days, it also frequently gets to where it is going =
early!
Another benefit would be that Tom, if he chose to do so, would (1) get a =
shipping discount because of volume, and (2) FREE BOXES!!!! from Fedex =
which also cut down on your bill. If I recollect correctly, they are =
charging less for their (free) packaging, and more for the "your =
packaging" category. I ship my art prints frequently, and find that on =
the whole, Fedex Express Saver is the way to go. PLUS, for the =
techinical "tweaks" out there, this is a chance to run around and =
measure the ambient temperature and humidity inside a big brown truck =
VS. a smaller white one. This study could incorporate engine size, tire =
size, wind coefficients, type of fuel vehicle uses, etc.
Best,
A.
Still hating my Barrista grinder, having my Alp adjusted at the factory, =
and thinking about Mazzer Mini's.....................................
