This reminds me of something that I have been meaning to bring up. Over
the last week or so, I have received one or two viruses (virum?) a day, two
of which were from the homeroast address. As this is the only place I have
my address (I actually do very little computer work away from work) I was
wondering if anyone has been receiving any more than normal (what is normal
BTW?) attached virum?

I've received a couple of these also. One actually came from Tom's
account. I don't worry about them because I run Mac's I staty away from
MS software as much as possible.

I haven't had Norton pick anything up in several months. My computer acts
so strange all the time anyway I wouldn't even notice a virus! Maybe it's
so infected with viruses it's living in a symbiotic relationship with them
and the only time I notice is when they decide to rearrange all my icons to
get more comfortable! :) Every something changes or doesn't work anymore I
swear I'm going out and buy a Mac. That seems to scare all the parasites
and they settle down for awhile! If I didn't love my computer so much I'd
get rid of it, one of the greatest causes of stress in the modern
household!! :)

Jim,
That was behind my moving to all Linux - then I find that Linux is
equally vulnerable to attacks from Linux programs. So I run from
inside a fortress of firewalls and security systems. I guess I don't
care all that much as long as the virus doesn't reach any of my coffee
equipment :O)

I get several viruses a day - most of them are sent to the email
addresses on my website. I don't think I've gotten any from the
homeroast address. One thing I have noticed over the last few days is
that I get an occassional e-mail from a postmaster, indicating that I've
sent virus-infected mail to people I don't even know - again, from the
addresses on my website... from which I never send mail, and at times I
wasn't even home. So the scum that sends this stuff is harvesting
addresses from wherever they can - both to and from addresses.

One of the most prevalent viruses today is the Klez virus. It includes the
extremely tacky nerve to read the address book, inbox and outbox on the
infected computer, and then use some of those addresses as the targets for
the emails it sends automatically, and picks one from the address file to
use as the "From" address. You can almost guarantee that the person shown
as the sender was simply someone who had either an email to the infected
computer, or been sent an email (at an earlier date) by the infected
computer --- either way it was in the address book, the inbox and/or the
outbox.

I've had Norton Internet Security installed since the day I installed
the computer - so it must be someone who had sent me an email from my
website at one time or another. And, it was indeed the Klez virus.
