Topic: Canaries & Roaster smoke (8 msgs / 112 lines)
1) From: Kevin McMinn
Hi all,
Has anyone ever had any problems with roaster smoke and their pet canaries?
I just acquired a couple birds and my wife is concerned about the toxic
effects my home roasting might have on the little winged buggers. In my
mind I would be more leery of the cats and dog, but hey, what do I know.
Suggestions?? Comments??

When we got out cockatiel, they suggested that we keep him out of the
kitchen due to the cleaning fluid ect. that reside there. You might want
to do that with your birds also.

My daughter, Cirrus, has done substantial work with birds in zoos and
vet clinics, she said that small birds are especially sensitive to
smoke of any kind. It is best to isolate the birds from the smoke,
probably by roasting outside.

A cafe-owner friend of mine was told to keep his pregnant wife away from the roaster or out of the cafe if he had his probat running. But no word on if they have canaries.

Let's see, at most 2 ounces of meat for about $70.00. This beats Kopi!
