I couldn't help myself. I opened my 'standard storage' staleness contol
zip-lock bag to waft it's fragrance. Mine was roasted the morning of 9/16,
now 12 days later. I can already tell a huge difference from fresh roast.
That distinct stale fragrance is setting in. By the time Les & I cup my
batch 10/20 I'm certain the zip-bag stored will have reached the 'high
quality' found in the 'fresh roast bin dispensers' commonly found
everywhere....:-)
I do plan on roasting a fresh roast control batch for both mine & Les's
testings 3 days before each respective taste testing, making them 4 way
blind comparisons instead of original plan of 3. Should be fairly accurate
since I've gotten pretty good at controlling the roast profile... Les
happened to be passing through my neck of the woods the 20th so we'll both
cup my batch. His batch will be a couple days later when he gets home.

Well, you're not to be flogged for that, I'm sure. The only reason my
samples from you are intact is because they're in Virginia and I'm in
Maine. ;>)

I still have my song bird samples in tack, not an easy thing, I do want =
to try them. Since this is a storage test I will wait until Oct. 20th =
about the same time Mike & Les will be trying Mikes out.
but no guarantees I can make it until then. :O)
