Since I'm now on the giving end, someone can claim one of the following
articles.
A Fresh Roast heater section mod'ed for direct connection to a variac or
step-down transformer.
If you step down the voltage on a FR to about 100 volts you will get a
roast profile 3X longer, and the beans will cool in under two minutes
because this mod also eliminates a secondary heater used to drop the
voltage for the fan section. Attach 12v dc to you fan, and you're in
business.
A FR timer with knob and micro switches (complete assembly)
A small heater pot with a big dial thermo sticking out of the top. Good
for 2 or 3 mugs of water.
A britta pitcher, no filter.

Get them at Sams Club, and change based upon usage.
Okay,
Lets try in addition,
A pint of Odoban concentrate. Will make quart of solution for use in a
spray bottle. Good for eliminating Smoke odors. Don't think you would
need more than that.
A bodum 1 cup (mug) pour thru filter and mug.
Two 84 gr batches of home roast from my FR+, you can pick the beans and
the profile.
My old Mr. Coffee (I won't tell anyone).

Hi all,
I've never posted to the list before, but I've been
roasting for over a year. My roasting notes showed
that over the first 12 months of coffee roasting, I
purchased about 130 pounds of green coffee and roasted
about 80 pounds of that until my Alpenroast went out
on me. I'm still roasting, it just takes a little more
time with my back-up roasters until Swissmar gets the
replacement out to me.
Well, I'm on the giving end of the tradition right
now, and I managed to work out something that I don't
have to run to the postoffice to send out. I'm a Tax
Accountant and don't really have time to do much
except work and drink coffee right now.
I won't tell what it is until I announce the winner,
but it is a gift that any one who buys coffee from Tom
and Maria will love to have.
The gift will go out to the third person to email me
directly off list. Remember that is ***** OFF LIST
*****. As usual, list postings don't count.

I sent a message announcing the winner a while back,
but it never made it to the list. Maybe I've messed up
somewhere and misdirected the email address or
something. Well I decided to send the email directly
through my server like I did the first time and bypass
Netscape to see if this works better.

When did we start the off-list reply part of the Tradition? I recall the
two times I participated it was simply the first on-list. Is it just
individual choice? Almost feels like a radio station now.

This means that the tradition now passes to me and I just happened to pick
something up today in St. Petersburg, Russia that someone on this list will
surely want - a podstakanik or a metal cup holder for a Russian glass of
tea. This one has a Sputnik space theme and is made of nickel plated copper
if I read the Russian correctly. It does not have a glass, but you should
be able to find one that fits easily. While Russians use them for tea, I've
been drinking my morning coffee out of one while we're in Russia. Here's a
link to a photo of one similar to the one I'm offering:http://www.russianfoods.com/showroom/product015E5/vendor003E4/default.aspSince I will be in transit and will not see emails again until sometime
Tuesday afternoon California time at the earliest, I will put all the
replies that come to me off-list between now and then in a hat to pick the
lucky winner.

Dane the tradition is simple, a list member offers up to the list a =
coffee related item . It used to be to the first one that replies to the =
post, gets the offering, but it seems now that it is off list, and can =
be 1st or what ever the giver decides. Then the winner is next and has =
to offer up something to the list. and so on .
At one time it was for the cost of shipping, but now the giver pays the =
postage. so it is truly a gift.

It is a system of an ongoing gift exchange. The person who wins a
traditional offering accepts the item(s) under the condition that they
offer something else, coffee related, to the list. When it started out
the recipient paid the shipping but we have simplified things by having
the shipping paid by the person who is sending the gift. I believe it
has been going on almost a year now.

Okay, since I won the Bodum cups from Peter

of brewing equipment which I never use, now that
I've got a Solis. My hope is that those of you
who already have a vac pot will let this one fall
into the hands of someone who doesn't....it's a
Yama vac pot with two extra filters, the whole
thing used half-a-dozen times or so, in excellent

peanuts to ensure that it arrives unscathed. Oh
yeah....I'll take the third reply off-line to:

Since I received some of the Beans from John I had best offer
something up today...
The third (3rd) person to email me off list (gin ) after 12
noon today (Friday) PST will receive:
1 demi cup and saucer, this is new from the box, it is from the Saturnia

The one I am offering is the Disco cup with saucer. It is made in Italy,

OK...It's been long enough...
Trouble is, I LIKE my coffee stuff and can be greedy about it....:-)
There is a roaster here in Kansas City who goes by the name of The
Roasterie. Sells coffee to a lot of the local cafes/restaurants and what
not. They also have a web presence where they sell their roasts to the
public.
It appears they normally don't sell green beans. Had to speak to the
marketing guy because "we have had some issues in the past".
These guys are only a couple of miles away and I thought they could be used
in a pinch. SM is the only coffee establishment that is a "payee" in my
online banking if that is any indication of where I have been and do get
greens from.
Well, I convinced the marketing guy that the beans were for home consumption
and that I wasn't going to re-brand and sell them or any other such
nonsense. This guy didn't seem to care one way or another and sold me the
beans.
I would like to "tradition" up 6 one half pound bags (bagged in the same
bags I had previously gotten during a "tradition") of various different
origins to 3 (hopefully there is SOME interest in this) winners.
Kenyan Jambo Estate
Colombian Pitalito Estate
Mexican Altura
Ethiopian Sidamos
Guatemala Antigua
Panama Baru Estate
If interested please send name to radams, deadline will be noon on
the 24th at which time names will be placed in a P1 and picked ala state
lottery. ;-) State your order of preferences as preferences will be filled
in the order winners are picked.
Thank you and thanks to a great list.
Respectfully,
Rich Adams
