Thanks, Mike and Angelo, for the tip on the Bodum - I'd forgotten
about them.
Does the mini-Bodum do any better at extraction time and temp than the
bigger one did? I tried a Starbucks variant a while back and wasn't
happy. Still - this is travelling we're talking about - and not the
usual at-home fare...
Nevertheless, I'd much prefer a plain ol' vac pot made of some
unbreakable material. Maybe someday.

Don't know about the mini's timing. We have the larger. Early this year,
Jan. or so, there was extensive discussion on it's time up North being way
too short. I have mine 'modified' with two 1/4" rubber feet on the back to
reduce the heating plate angle, increasing average up North time to 2min.
Use about the same finer grind I use for Press with Swiss Gold plunger and
2min infusion. Works fairly well for workday first pot of the day when
Debi's making it still half asleep. Better than drip IMO. I turn on Miss
Silvia as soon as I get up a half hour later:-) Weekends the eVac doesn't
get used... unless company is over who have never seen Vac brewing.:-)
(don't have a Cona yet to really show off vac brewing! :-(
