Topic: Coffee Race a.k.a. shipping time (6 msgs / 112 lines)
1) From: jim gundlach
After the move to the west coast, some of us east of the Mississippi
have been concerned with shipping time. I have ordered 5# of Timor and
and 5# of Monkey Blend and arranged to have one shipped by UPS and the
other shipped by FedEx. The UPS shipment got off at about 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday and the FedEx shipment got off at about 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
Anyway. The two five pound packages of green beans are racing? by
ground toward La Place, Alabama. Latest tracking shows that the UPS
pack left Richmond, Ca for Doraville, Ga at 2:25 a.m. the 3rd. The
FedEx package arrived at the Sacramento, Ca sorting facility about 24
minutes later and there is no indication that it has left yet. Both
estimate arrival on Wednesday, Oct 9. I'll keep the list posted.

Great idea, get the shipping nitty-gritty facts. But this is a single test
race. Of course you'll 'need' to do it oh, say a half dozen more times for a
good racetrack record comparison. All with 5# greens for consistency :-)

Speaking of a race involving UPS, last weekend at a local fair I saw a UPS
truck decked out with flames painted on the front and sides of the usual
plain brown wrapper. Unfortunately, it did little to increase my perception
of the speed of the big, lumbering panel truck. (maybe a spoiler would
help?)

Did that big, brown truck carry the number 88 by any chance?
