Topic: Guadeloupe Coffee (5 msgs / 80 lines)
1) From: Renaud Dreyer
I just saw report on French TV (TV5 Etats-Unis) on coffee in the
Guadeloupe. The production, which was of 100 millions tons at its
peak, went down to almost nothing. Now it's being revived, and they
showed a local producer harvesting, wet processing and roasting the
local arabica variety, shade-grown under banana trees. Has anyone
tried Guadeloupe coffee, or know a source? Thanks,
           Renaud

Renaud,
I have a pound left in my stash. I didn't get it from Tom, so I don't think
it would be right to post where to get it here. If you do a web search you
can find it yourself. It isn't overly impressive. It tastes to me like a
very good Central American with a higher price. Mike McGuiness has
homeroasted some too I think, and I hope he chimes in with his opinion. The
mystic factor is very valuable however!

Guadeloupe coffee is not the same as the Galapogos Island coffee. It is one
of those coffees I got from a friend of a friend and as I told John from the
DEEP south, I will try to track the source down the next time I see my
friend Rod who travel a lot on his job.
