Topic: Giving Coffee (4 msgs / 71 lines)

My granddaughter's school had a Fall Festival which included collecting
items to raffle or auction. My wife volunteered a couple of pounds of
pecan wood fire roasted coffee. She bought a couple of nice clear
glass canisters and I roasted the coffee a couple of pounds of the
Uganda since it works well for a about all brewing methods. I attached
a label that was a lecture about the importance of freshness and noting
that trying to save it actually wastes the flavor. After smelling the
coffee one person entered $20.00 worth of raffle tickets in the bin for
one of the coffees. In general it seemed to be a hit and made the
school some money. I put Sweetmaria's URL on the label and I saw a
couple of people copy it down. I did not know either of the winners.
The guy who put in $20.00 was not a winner. Offering coffee at this
kind of fund raiser could well be a way to expand the community of home
roasters.

Good idea, Jim. My wife does One Stroke painting and sells things at craft
shows. I need to find some glass containers she can decorate and then fill
with coffee and do the same thing, might go over quite well.
Actually, what I really want to do is buy one of those self contained
espresso carts and sell espressos at those functions, but that probably
won't happen.
