Agreed. If someone asks for help, I offer it cheerfully. It wouldn't
be the first time I've forgotten something or overlooked directions.
But demanding that other people remove you from a list you managed
to join without their help always reminds me of demanding that they
operate the tissue paper after you have accomplished your mission
in the defecatorium.
(Note that the phrasing above constitutes evidence that I'm on my
best behavior in a new environment. I have been somewhat more
pithy with that concept when on familiar territory.)
I may have been more tolerant about this eight or ten years ago,
when I first joined the Net. At this point, bellowing to be removed
always inspires me to remove them a little more thoroughly and
permanently than they may have in mind. Fortunately, locating them
in the real world has always been more trouble than it was worth.
So far.
Incidentally, is it my imagination, or does French press coffee
have a lot more caffeine than filter? This last couple of days,
I've been feeling seriously wired.
