Topic: Sugar in your coffee? (11 msgs / 162 lines)
1) From: Ssz15e
Has anyone tried this one? If you like a little sugar in your espresso try
putting it in the portofilter on top of the coffee after tamping. Works like
a charm for me, no mixing sugar and messing up the crema, and a friend who
suggested the technique swears that the sugar caramelizes a bit. Comments?

I've heard that this is a Cuban practice. It does not get hot enough
to caramelize the sugar but there are already caramelized sugars in the
roasted beans.

I belong to the "No sugar, thank you" school, and would like to get
reactions to my preference for fat-free milk in my breakfast bowl.

We don't generally discuss breakfast bowls....but lately I have been
using vanilla hemp milk to make my lattes and then putting some in my
breakfast bowl as a milk replacement.
I will add that most of my lattes are plain whole milk. I'm trying to
develop some steaming skills and it seems to work better under the
wand.

No sugar in my coffee, full fat dairy all the way. Fat-free is a crime
against dairy products and you may as well put water on your cornflakes
if you use fat-free milk.

I used to use sugar, but then I used to drink starbucks also.
Now that I roast I see no need to hide the flavor.

I use sugar. It may be heresy, but I think it develops the flavors in the
coffee.

hehe,
There is a lot of room between SB and using organic sugar, succanat or
honey if you are a sweettooth person.
I use much less now then I when I bought my coffee out.
I like my espresso straight and my milk drinks with 1/2 (cap) to
(latte) 1 teaspoon for the desert in a cup.
They are sweet just from the milk but that little extra puts it over
the top!
I think of it as a compliment to the flavors ;)

Wouldn't bother me a bit if you ground some Anthracite Coal and added it to
